a few more loaves and fishes

Jack- tonight you did a few amazing things. First, you worked on homework and informed me of what you were doing as I prepped dinner. You were so proud of your ability to be informative, and it was so cute.
Then, as I was reading Charlie's Awana homework recounting the story of Jesus multiplying the loaves and fishes- you interrupted me and said, " yeah, I know this one. What happened was- Jesus was talking to all the people, and then they got hungry. Kind of like me. I'm hungry all the time because I'm busy growing and my body is just hungry all the time. So they did not have enough food so the disciples went right on down to a boy. The boy gave his lunch and Jesus made those loaves of bread and fishes last and last so that everyone was full and had leftovers for the next day. THAT was a miracle."
The third thing was that as I snuggled you before bed, I told you to relax and enjoy falling asleep. I then started to rub your hair like I always do. You closed your eyes and looked like you were falling asleep. After a minute, I stopped and you gently said, "25." I said, "what's 25?" You said, " 25 is the number of times you rubbed my hair. I was counting."

Charlie- tonight, after dinner I told you that you could have a piece of chocolate as a treat. You were so excited and squealed. When I looked at the size of the chocolates, I said that you could have two. You said, "Wow!!! Hey Jatt! I want to give YOU one of my chottolates!" I said, "Charlie- that was so sweet. Where did you get a kind heart like that?" Seriously like a gangster, you pointed your finger to the sky and closed your eyes and bobbed your head up and down, pouted your lips out and said, "Dod." (God)

Then, at bedtime you said that you said your Bible verse from Awana with pride- Matthew 6:11- Give us this day our daily bread. Then you just beamed at me.

Finally, when trying to get you go to sleep. I asked why you were not falling asleep. You said, "well, mama- it's just that I had a pretty rough day. Betuzz, Brendan caught a spider at Bright Futures and I caught a bug even bigger than him, and then we were playing and playing so much. It was really really fun and just a really tough day." I explained that you may have the definition of tough and rough wrong. Blank, cute stare.

Tonight was one of those nights where things went well, we snuggled, kissed, hugged, tickled and laughed. I really enjoy these nights. I need to remember them on the nights when you are so tired, and I am so tired- that we dance on he brink of tears the whole time. Sweet dreams, my sweet boys.
