pooh

Hello boys,

Well, it's happened again. Time has flown by, I have savored every moment of you (except for the less savory moments) and I have not made sufficient time to write you about- well, you.

These past few months have been so full of some of the best things of life. The first is that you were both on the same tee-ball team together, the Rangers. Sometimes I, and the other parents walked away with our cheekbones hurting from laughing so hard at your cute team of characters. Jack- You played in the dirt and danced sometimes as the ball rolled right past you. Charlie- you were a natural chasing down the ball, but also getting sidetracked by your teammates. You both had turns to hit the "home run" last hit and you both had turns to be the catcher. You both grew in your confidence and skill and most importantly, you had fun while following the direction of your coaches. It was sooooo delicious. We have now signed you up for soccer in the fall.

Jack- you graduated from kindergarten! It was such a special time and you really embraced the celebration of the hard work you did to learn to read, write, etc. Homework was not easy for you (or me) and we were all so proud of you doing it all. You also had a jedi birthday party for turning 6. We had it right here in our un-landscaped backyard despite my protests and you know what? It was great!!!! Noni and Popi came from California, Honey and Grandpa, Uncle Jeff and Stephanie and many of your friends. It was great. A day I won't forget.

Charlie- you did a great job in your preschool class and we are so excited to see you grow more next year. You were so interested in what Jack was doing all year, that you have already learned so many of the kindergarten skills and you still have a year of pre-school left! You can already count near 100, write your name, write many other letters and numbers and recognize words by sounding them out. Incredibly smart little cookie. You are also a spicy little character who sometimes uses all that brain to be defiant. We're working on it together as a family.

You were both a vision of cuteness as you walked Frankie down the aisle for Uncle Jeff and Aunt Stephanie's wedding! It was a really fun adventure, you both and Margaux were three peas in a pod, and we danced the night away on the dance floor. Looking down at you, your bow ties and suspenders while you danced with me, was something I will never forget. Charlie- I did not dance with you as much because your dance style is more, ummm, free style and you also spent most of the night chasing girls.

Right now it is a hot Saturday afternoon at about 108 degrees outside and you both passed out in your room for a quick nap with air conditioning. When you wake up, we are going to go work on clearing rocks and weeds from the space where we want to have a lawn and you guys are going to play with your water table.

We FINALLY saw God's answer for daddy to work during the day!!!! He moved into a new position as an anesthesia tech and he is now working Monday-Friday during the day. It did not take long to figure out that we had been praying this every day for one year with him working nights, but also that we had not both had a day time Mon-Fri schedule the entire first 10 years we were married!!! What I want you to know is this-- whenever you are reading this-- God answers every prayer, sometimes yes, sometimes no, sometimes not yet. And that not yet? It is serious business. He could very well mean that you need to wait 10 years for that thing you want. But when He makes it happen for you-- it won't be a day too soon. We are believing that now and cherishing every night we sit around the dinner table after years and years of imagining what it would be like.

Your daddy is sitting next to me on his computer playing stupid World of Warcraft.

A little cute story from last night. Every time we see a bug, a bird or a plant that we can't identify, we have become accustomed to saying, "maybe we should ask Uncle Jeff about that." Because he knows so many of those type of things. Last night, you Charlie asked, " what does it mean 'pooh' in Winnie the Pooh's last name? Why do they say that?" I said that I did not know. You said, "maybe we should ask Uncle Jeff."
