Happy Easter!

Hi there baby Jack

It is Easter Sunday morning. I just got out of bed to come to the computer to write you a little note about this special day. Your dad is still asleep but you kicked me in the side so I know we are both awake. Today is a special holiday. It is the day of the Good News. It is going to take you a very long time to understand this because I am 31 and I am honestly just getting it and know I still have a long way to go. Easter is not about a bunny and it is not about chocolate, although bunnies and chocolate are very nice. Easter is about the fact that Jesus died on the cross and rose again to pay for the fact that we are all just broken people. He has proven today that if we choose to accept His love and this gift, that we do not have to pay for being such bumbling idiots. It seems too good to be true and too easy to just say- I believe that you are God and that you did this for me. But that's all there is-- I believe that Jesus was killed and rose from the dead. I believe that He knew He would do this for us. I will commit to telling you this story even though it makes people look so ugly. I will commit to telling you this story along with having an Easter egg hunt-- but how will I tell you that the Easter bunny is a silly substitute for people who have not found Jesus yet? Or an extra thing that we do for fun that doesn't hold any real implications? I don't know that yet-- but I don't want you to ever think that Easter is only about Easter bunnies.

Speaking of just for fun and of no lasting consequence-- your dad and I are headed back to the baseball stadium today for Easter brunch before watching the baseball game. This is pretty fun because the whole time that we have been married, your dad has wanted to go to a nice brunch, because he loves to eat, and we have not really done it-- but today we get to mix the brunch with baseball-- so that is great. We are going because our doctor told us that it looks like you'll be holding on for another two weeks or so. But if you don't, we've got all of the stuff in the car!

Anyway-- I am going to go tell your dad it is time to wake up-- he can sleep easier than me because he does not have a basketball under his shirt to contend with--

I love you-- Happy Easter- celebrate today that God loves you so much that he let His son hurt very badly for you, and then He let that Son perform the greatest miracle that ever happened by raising from the dead. Really-- it was the biggest moment of love that ever was-

I am going to also celebrate on a light note that I woke up at 8:30 am to a quiet, peaceful apartment with the sun shining through the curtains and the sounds of birds outside. I am pretty certain that next Easter will sound a little different and for many Easter Sundays after that!
