I just wanted to share that I am predicting some things about you today. I have evidence to back it all up that is showing right now and I cannot wait to see what comes true. I can't write about all of them right now- but here's one: you are going to have a great sense of humor and will use it to remind me in the future of some of these mumlessons I'm learning now. I was just feeding you on this hot summer morning trying to get you a little extra baby hydration before it gets really hot. I probably fed you a little sooner than you wanted because I have to get ready for work soon.
When I was done feeding you, I brought you up slowly and started to pat your back for a burp. I felt a burp coming up your back through my hand and reached my hand under your mouth where I caught a handful of puke. I immediately praised myself for anticipating your puke, wiped the puke on my shirt, carefully took off my shirt while balancing you in my lap, and tossed the shirt on the ground out of my reach. I probably even smiled at myself like, "yes-- I'm awesome. I handled that."
You then looked at me with a sweet sweet smile as you do so often now and then puked twice as much as before all over me. Then. You laughed.
There's a good reason God asks us not to puff ourselves up and to be humble, not because we should not be proud of a victory or two- but because there's always a little more puke about to flow and we need to be ready. :)
This morning you were in our bed after I fed you so that Jack would still sleep a little longer and the light started to come through the blinds. We were laying completely eye to eye and smiling at each other. You are a sweet little thing. I know I keep using the word sweet but it's on purpose- there's no better word right now to describe your foot in your mouth, giggling, nyah nyah nyah talking and your bright blue eyes. I had no idea how capable I would be to think you are just perfect after already seeing how perfect Jack is and was. I love you my little Charlie brown bear.
Thank you for all of it-- the puking, and all.
