rainy afternoon and butternut squash

Right now it is raining like crazy outside and you and I are in laying in mom and dad's bed next to the window watching it come down and playing with some toys. We have been snuggling all day and you are still in your jammies. I just posted on facebook that this feeling is completely unforgettable- so I thought I would write you a note about it. I am at home with you this week and it is awesome. I hope that someday I get to be a full time at home mom but for now-- having a few weeks here and there is great. You are so very sweet right now I can't tell you. The only thing is that you keep reaching for the computer and have already logged me out of things.

This past weekend you made yet another trip to AZ with us for our annual half marathon in Phoenix- PF Chang's rock and roll. We actually did okay even though we have not been training and are in pretty bad shape. I did it with my best friend Gretchen. It was fun but yesterday I could hardly walk. I hope that we keep doing this and the races are a part of your life too. I am reading a book right now called "Where is God when it hurts" The first few chapters are about the link between pain and pleasure and how our life would truly not be rich without pain. This is especially true in the land of marathon. There would be no special thing about crossing the finish line of the end of the race if it did not hurt all over. If there was no struggle to keep going, what would be the glory at the end?

Also, today you should know that you are in the midst of learning to eat new foods every couple of days. This was going smoothly until you got some diarrhea and had to back off food for a few days. Now you have turned away from food the last few days... Anyway- today I got you through some butternut squash by adding some milk and you got some blueberries as a reward/dessert. You got it all over your face!

Dad and I are pretty proud of the fact that at almost 9 months old, you have had only breast milk and no formula. You have had only fresh foods prepared by dad and I- no processed or store made foods at all so far. We hope to be giving your body a great start for a healthy life. We know for sure you will do many things that undermine this health-- we do some ourselves. But please know that our hope was to get you going in such a way that your body could handle some cheesecake in the future.Take good care of your body! This is your proof to God that you appreciate what He gave you!
