Hi there--
Today is my first mother's day because of you- I am so excited to be your mom if you have not figured it out by now. Just to finish up the previous entry-- we then spent four days and nights in our hospital room. All day and all night was a series of learning how to feed you, learning how to change you, receiving visitors that were overjoyed to meet you and receiving loving care from a team of nurses in the hospital. In fact, this past week of being home, I have really missed the nurses.
This past week has been a test of my ability to keep my eyes on you while dealing with my own physical ailments. You have had different sleeping patterns every night while I have struggled through tough feedings, a three day headache, stomach pain, emotional outbursts, and severely swollen feet. Your dad and I have been a good team but the week was tough. I am glad that you won't remember it, but we certainly will.
Right now, your gramma Cathy is here to help me out and fill that nurse need I have had. She has been a great support while I am missing the security of the hospital. Your grammy Kip is missing you so bad today that she has been dreaming about your smell! These are my moms and they make it easy for me to feel special today as the newest mom on our block. Everyone is so excited about you that your Uncles Matt and Jeff even gave my mom mother's day presents that were about you.
About Mother's day-- once when I was a kid your uncle made a decorative cup for my mom and he misspelled mothers day and wrote " happy moter's day" for this reason- we have always called it moter's day instead of mother's day. I can't wait to see the things you might make me someday and how I will treasure them. For today, you have given me snuggles and sweet looks with your still dark blue eyes. I love you so much that it hurts.
Today we'll take you for your first walk down at the ocean- I am so excited to get outside and also excited to use one of our strollers for the first time. I will take pictures so you can see. Today and yesterday, I have started to notice that you are actually changing and growing. Your little face is filling in a little and your eyes are tracking us more and looking more aware of he world.
Happy Moter's day.
