Hello my favorite ladies, This email might seem a little formal but I am just getting things organized in my head so I am writing this in work mode or "business Jen". You are on this email because you have expressed interest in being a part of the planning and execution of one of two baby showers for my baby-to-be Jack Murphree. Since I am a control freak, I have decided to list out for you the following to get things going. 1) Possible dates for the showers are: February 28th ( only a CA option because Matt has an improv show and he will drive to AZ with me when we go), March 7th and March 14th. I am not going to plan any travel later than that, far away from Mission Hospital. So, if none of these work for Aunt Lori, we can always do the CA a week later. 2) I have made up a preliminary list of people I would like to invite that are directly in my life, but that does not mean that if any of you has a friend that you want to invite that we can't add them. Also, I am sure I have forgotten people. 3) I have decided that I plan to complete the task of the invitations for these showers on my own because that will get the ball rolling and give you the ability to focus on the showers themselves such as locations, decorations, food, receiving RSVP's and party gifts for guests or prizes for games. I am going to do one invitation that lists the info for both showers and send it to all people. There are people that will be unable to come to either due to geography but others that might want to choose. I would like to have the invites ready to send out by the 2nd week of January at the latest so that people have a little more than a month to make sure they can be there. This means I have to be starting on them now since I like to do things in stages and will be registering for baby stuff in between now and then as well. 4) Games- I can tell you three that I have liked to give you an idea: a) decorating onesies- everyone decorated them at my neice's shower, b) safety pins in rice- you put rice into a bowl with little safety pins mixed in and go around the shower and people have to close their eyes and be timed trying to decide what is rice and what is a safety pin. I think I liked it because I won- ha ha. But actually it is not easy. c) diaper bag guessing- this one was fun because I was horrible. The host of the game buys a diaper bag and fills it with one of each of the most necessary items that a newborn baby would need. Then, all guests make a list of what they think is in it. I only got about 15 out of 31 things right! We can do other games like this but these are just some I have liked.
5) Locations- My mom has mentioned that she would like to have it close to their house but that their living room is probably not big enough so she is looking into a room at their church. The CA will be at my aunt Lori's- right? 6) Food- I don't care 7) Decorations- I don't care 8) If you have received this email in error and do not want to help, do not know me or anything of the sort- please disregard-- HA HA! I am so thankful that I have so many amazing women in my life and would love for us to have two fun showers where people get to do the part that is their strength- for instance, my mom has already asked if she can NOT be in charge of games or crafty items- and I get that whereas no one is more crafty than my best friend Gretchen and more creative than my mother-in law Cathy. So, please let me know your thoughts about the above and I am sorry that this is by email but figured it was more efficient as a start than 7 or 8 phone calls to repeat everything. Thank you------- Jen-- replace the urgent with the significant...
