Charlie "the standard" Murphree

Hi Charlie!

Yesterday was already your 18 month appointment at the doctor! Right now- the ability to write on this blog is provided by the fact that you and Jack both have little Leap Frog lap tops. You are "writing blog entries" on your laptops- too cute. Well-- never mind- you're already not doing that. Now you are running with your laptop and dancing.

Anyway-- at your appointment, we learned what we already knew--- you are a perfect little specimen of baby! You are in exactly the 50th percentile for head circumference, height and weight. You screamed the entire time Dr. H wanted to examine you but when we were just talking, you went straight back to Charlie dance (bouncing up and down and spinning in circles).

We discussed the adventure you've had over the last month--- you appear to be not only allergic to penicillin but possibly also to cefdinir and that "family" of antibiotics. You had a mild ear infection that was prescribed antibiotics that turned into fast developing red bumps, then blisters then sores, now scars and flaking skin that covers your toes. It's been gross and stressful. You have been a good sport through it all. It has been confirmed though-- that your lifelong relationship with antibiotics is going to be affected. I hope it does not result in the need of a medical bracelet or something like that-- but I don't want you in danger either. After all- your breathing was not affected, but next time it could be.

This was very difficult for me as your mom. I almost felt like I could not breathe when I saw your skin covered in sores. Another chance to say, "God- I trust you. Help us through whatever will be."

I have a lot more to say to you both-- but it will have to wait. My paid job is still at Casa de Amma. But my "real" job is referee of two boys struggling to learn the rules of the house.

To recap soon: three weeks with Honey and Grampa!, trip to Morro Bay, Charlie's words, Jack's toddler struggles and potty training that isn't.

But for now-- I have to address the screams and cries behind my computer chair.
