6 weeks old! 6 hours a night!

Charlie-

Congratulations for making it to 6 weeks old and getting cuter everyday! The most recent and oh so significant development is that you slept 7.5 hours straight about a week ago and then have had at least a 5 hour stretch ever since! The trick for us with your brother and with you has been to focus on a two and a half to three hour feeding schedule all day starting around 7am. Each feed cycle needs to focus on keeping you awake after eating (this is very hard for you) then having you sleep up until the next time you should eat. Then- trying to get in 7-8 feedings even though that takes until midnight to get to- then swaddle you up really late and hope for the best. Eventually- you'll get the idea without as much coaxing. Right now you have been snoozing for about 10 minutes and I am waiting for it to be time for your last feeding of the day. It is really hard to stay up so late waiting to do the last feeding. But that is the way it works in our experience.

You honestly are getting cuter every day. Your brown hair looks like the roots are coming in blond- which will be funny when your head is two-tone. You look so chunky to me- which is so fun to know that I am making your body grow with my milk!

Jack- you are still in love with your brother, who you call "chartie" or "artie." You have been patient and quiet at times when Charlie is screaming his head off and dad and I look weary. Thank you for your continued sweetness. You are really making us laugh all the time now with the words. You are now saying things like "ready- set- go!!!!!" and then you throw your arms up and smile to yourself, always running around the house. You are also counting to 5, although we don't think you really know the significance of the words.

I ordered our packet of legal papers today to develop our family trust and will as well as guardianship papers in case dad and I die unexpectedly. I know I already wrote about it so I'll just say now- I look forward to getting this done so that IF something were to happen you would know that we love you so much and would never want you to not have what you need or know that we cared enough to think in advance. Hopefully, when you are adults- we will hand you the trust and say- look how much we loved you!

No specifics on the trust to list here-- this is the internet!

I still have three weeks before I go back to work and I am having the time of my life being a stay at home mom for right now. My time with you boys feels like it just keeps getting better, and that every day makes our bond stronger- which is hard to imagine when I already felt like exploding!

Also- today is Papa's 63rd birthday- Jack you were able to say happy birthday on the phone!
