hand foot mouth disease

today was our first time staying home sick from work together. I am not sick but you have what they call hand foot mouth disease. You have bumps on your wrists, all over your legs, some on your face and apparently in your throat according to the doctor. It has not been a fun couple of days. It has hurt our hearts to see you in pain trying to swallow and actually reaching your little hand to your throat. For you to have little red bumps all over your lower half-- is so horrible. Three nights out of the last seven, we have been up almost all night with you.

So- dad got to stay with you yesterday and I have been with you today. We have had a really great day other than a meltdown I had this morning regarding my "paid family leave" time with you. I took some in October and then again in November. I am planning to take 4 more weeks over the next 5 months and the state is supposed to pay me for it. I have spent hours on the phone just trying to be able to talk to someone about it and the lines are busy, or they need me to talk to someone else. I know that the state of California is a mess and that the budget is horrible, etc. But I got so angry that I have spent so much of my time with you trying to get hold of a program that is supposed to help me spend time with you!!!!

You will deal with alot of messed up systems in the world. I hope that you learn to be patient when dealing with people. Even though I was so hot angry- I thanked the person on the phone who helped me and then told her that I know things are tough at her job and that I hope she has a good day and thanked her for helping me. You need to do this. What you need to also learn from me is that I messed up next. Then I called your dad and totally yelled at him for my frustration. So-- don't take your frustration with injustice out on people trying to do their job. But don't take it out on your loved ones either. As soon as I figure out where you are supposed to let it out--- I'll let you know. Ha Ha!!!
