I am sitting here watching the presidential debate between John Mccain and Barack Obama. I just got back from a walk on the beach with my friend Kylene after about 8 weeks of a completely sedentary life from morning, noon and night sickness. We talked about the mess of the whole political process and how so many problems make things like a debate heavily laden with with the feeling of wheels spinning above the ground.



The reason this is my entry as a mum lesson is that I know you ( baby murphree #1) will be living in this world, you will see these problems. I am sorry that your sweet eyes will see them and that your developing heart will harden at times because of things like violence, taxes, health care problems, the environment, and education. I know that you will learn over time that all problems stay the same while also so many things are escalating. Some of the rhetoric that my grandparents heard is still being said and some of the problems of this era were not even part of my grandparents imagination. Technology is advanicng this world in many amazing ways and also shooting us forward in ways that make every topic so complicated that those wheels never can touch the ground. Am I just rambling too???



What I am trying to say is- I know you will be coming into a world of problems. Part of my job as your mum will be to show you these things and teach you to look at them with a critical eye so that you can create your own perspective. I will try to show you the beautiful things about the world so that you can rely on what God has made in the midst of the mess that man has made. You will absolutely have to rely on what God has made because the world you will know is even beyond my imagination. The only way to keep your head above water will be through faith in God's strength and knowing the feeling of His love. I hope that you will know this and never waiver from it but if you do, that you see the signs in your life that God will show you when you need to turn back to Him.



There will be times when you hurt and times when you see others hurting and wonder what it's all about. So, let me clear that up- I am just a person like you are and do not have all the answers like Obama and McCain claim to have. But I know this: God's love is the only way to the good life.
