The Dorners

Hi boys,

I know I have mentioned them before but I wanted to write you a note today about your friends Nani and Popi. They watch you both every week for two days and they do this out of love. They give this time as a gift to us, one that we could not even begin to place a value on. And yet- they see this time as a gift to them. They love you both completely and as their surrogate grandchildren. I can't begin to imagine what your life will be like some day when you are reading this. Perhaps and hopefully- you will know the whereabouts of Gregg and Barbara when you read this and they will know about you. But in case that doesn't happen- I want you to know about their gift. I have called it sometimes in my head, "The Dorner method of giving," which is characterized by complete, generous, immeasurable and selfless giving. They seek to make sure that your life and often our life is comfortable, healthy and fun. They give of their time because that is who they are. They show you both unconditional love and we could not be more thankful. Since your four biological grandparents do not live here in California where we live now, your Nani and Popi meet this need for you most weeks. They feel it's an honor. I just can't express enough to you that they love you, see their time with you as a blessing to them even though they are blessing us. Your dad and I often talk about how their example will someday come to our mind when we have the opportunity to give of our time and love freely to a family with new babies just like they have done for us. This season of life is hard- and we have been so blessed to have them in our life.

They quite literally love to rehash every funny and cute thing you both do as if it is the number one topic of the news. And that is exactly what two adoring parents like dad and I think is the best.

Now- I have to go because you Jack just dumped approximately 200 blocks at my feet and said, "yes, let's make a castle, mm hmm."
